New line-up – new look – new sound – new tunes. The Orphans take a giant step forward on their new EP. With founding member/guitarist Michael (no last name’s, please) looking to diversify The Orphans sound; a denser, funkier and more vocally assured band is the result. The most apparent new addition, Genia brings her classically trained piano chops and expressive voice to the proceedings. Sliding somewhere between Debbie Harry’s slyness, and Bjork’s wild flights, Genia gives The Orphans their most visible identity. Rounding out the re-formed quartet are Andrey (bass) and Stas (drums) who add muscle and swing. Together these Orphans create a potent and powerful lineup.
The Orphans has successfully peddled their new brand of calibrated rock through New York’s downtown club scene, playing legendary venues as China Club, The Bitter End, The Roxy, and Hammerstein Ballroom. They expect to bring their unique sound to a store and club near you. |
